Improving intercultural pragmatic competencies in online L2 Spanish classrooms through task-supported learning

Learners of a second language often have limited access to the native culture that in an authentic way, resulting them committing linguistic and intercultural mistakes. One main advantages task-based learning is it can expose students real-world circumstances, which makes more meaningful inclusive appropriate behaviour. Task-based has become accepted method for face-to-face classroom environments, but its applicability online largely unaddressed. The author proposed well-organised role-plays based on approach involving speakers, helped interact way demonstrate their understanding culture. conducted research increase pragmatic competencies L2 classrooms regarding common speech acts as not only competency also motivate students. from experimental group who were exposed task-supported performed better than control students; however, student motivation was mildly impacted. Thus, pragmatics interculturality be effectively taught through learning, though may require longer interventions.
